Students With iPhones Get the 411

Students at UCSD may soon be able attend class using an iPhone.

The university is the first public school in the country to offer a free iPhone software application for students. The application provides students with information on courses, faculty and athletics on their cell phones.

Students can also call, e-mail or send text messages to instructors.

Campus officials hope to expand the application so that students can listen to audio podcasts of past lectures. By the end of the year, UCSD plans to offer the same application for students who use a Blackberry.
