More Time to Shop (Who Can Argue?)
Amidst the bluegrass music and international cuisine, it's like you've escaped to another world.

If you check out the stalls and booths at the Hillcrest Farmers’ Market, you could get lost in an unbelievable maze of fragrant flowers, hanging plants, an array of fresh tomatoes, Swiss chard, kale or kiwi and jewelry and crafts so tempting you'll get the urge to actually pull out your wallet and spend.

Amidst the bluegrass music and international cuisine, it's like you've escaped to another world. The good news is you'll have longer to do it, because the Market is extending its hours one more hour from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 8. It also coincides with the daylight savings time change, which make the days seem longer.

It is also the 12th anniversary of the Hillcrest outdoor market, which is one of the largest of the 32 Certified Farmers' Markets in San Diego County.  The market started with 32 vendors in 1987 and has expanded to 115.

The market is located in the DMV parking lot on Normal St. If you can't make it to that one, there is a farmers’ market open in the county nearly every day of the week from Oceanside to Escondido to Chula Vista, La Jolla, and Little Italy.

Downtown San Diego shoppers and workers can get a head start at the Farmers’ Market in Horton Square , which opens Thursday, March 5. It is also extending its hours by opening at 11 a.m. and closing at 3 p.m.
