Grade School Pics Go High-Tech

Local photographer tries new technology to stay competitive

A local photographer is using technology to compete with bigger companies for the right to capture smiles on picture day.

Brian Burke photographed students at Johnson Magnet Elementary School on Kelton Road in San Diego Thursday.

Burke uses a green screen as a background in his pictures. This gives parents the ability to swap out a boring background color for something more personal.

They can choose from beach and park scenes-- or more traditional backgrounds that blend well with their child's clothing.

Burke says the photos take a lot more time in the photo lab but the personal touch keeps him competitive with larger companies.
