Local real estate company collects food for RED Day.

Thousands of realtors across the country took a day off work Thursday to help those in their community for 'RED' day -  "Renew, Energize and Donate."

The event, which is in its third year, is sponsored by  by Keller Williams Realty. Offices across the country choose their own project to help the local communtiy.

Members from the San Diego Metro office gathered outside grocery stores to collect food for the San Diego Food Bank.

"San Diego has a heart and everybody here is very giving today," said Robert Schantz, with Keller Williams. "And we are very grateful for our opportunity to be out here and serve the community and give back where we live."  

The Keller Williams office in Carmel Valley collected bags of food to donate to the military outreach ministry for families at Camp Pendleton. 

Last year they collected 1300 bags of food.This year, their goal is 1800 pounds.
