A mansion in Beverly Hills fell nearly $15 million short of the asking price, but still set a record.

The 27,000-square-foot Normandy-style mansion sold for $31.5 million.

That sets a 2009 high-water mark for local home sales. The three-story, 10-bedroom house was initially listed for $45 million.

The home was on the market for 255 days.

The buyer of the house, which features an indoor swimming pool and a moat-like water feature, has not been disclosed.
