World Record Attempt: Biggest Fish Taco

The fishy feat will take place at the Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier

San Diego is already notorious for its killer fish tacos, but on Wednesday, May 23, America’s Finest City may break records for the biggest fish taco in the world.

That day, food service distributor US Foods in San Diego will attempt to break an unofficial record for the biggest fish taco at their annual Foodshow.

The fishy feat will take place at the Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier, located at 1000 North Harbor Drive.

The taco is scheduled to be completed by 12:30 p.m.

According to US Food reps, their massive fish taco will measure approximately 250-feet and will be prepared by 10 chefs from the Brigantine Family of Restaurants.

The chefs will prepare the taco over the course of two hours using flour tortillas, battered Pollock fish, cabbage and cilantro.

To date, the Guinness World Record for largest taco in the world belongs to a massive culinary creation concocted by the city of Mexicali, Mexico, on March, 8, 2003.

According to Guinness, during the city’s 100th anniversary celebration, a group of 80 cooks made a giant taco weighing a whopping 1,654-pounds.

The record-breaking taco was 35.9-feet long and 33.8-inches wide.

It was reportedly stuffed with 1,182-pounds of grilled steak, 179-pounds of onion and 106.3-pounds of coriander inside 186-pounds of flour tortilla dough.

The massive meal was accompanied by vegetables and guacamole sauce, and took eight grills and six hours to make, according to Guinness World Record history.

No word on whether or not the San Diego fish taco can be consumed after its completion, as US Foods representatives did not return calls from NBCSanDiego.
