Peak into the events of San Diego Beer Week

With tons of excitement for San Diego Beer Week, there are events around the county that will keep you begging for more.

Local restaurants and breweries will be showcasing the city’s huge craft beer culture with events scheduled Nov. 6-15.

We took a look at the events and picked a few to get you started.

KICK OFF BEER DINNER AT FIREFLY: To help kick off the first ever San Diego Beer Week, Firefly at The Dana on Mission Bay has teamed up with Stone Brewery, Lightning Brewery, Coronado Brewing Company, Ballast Point Brewery, and Karl Strauss Brewing Company for a $45 five course tasting menu exploring the union of some of San Diego’s finest craft beers with locally sourced foods. The reception is at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 6:30 p.m.

KEEP THE GLASS AT CIAO: Stop in at Ciao for great food and great craft beer! All week long, keep the glass and get $1.50 off refills. They will have assorted glassware from several different breweries. On draught will be Paulaner Oktoberfest, Stone Pale Ale, Stone IPA, Stone Levitation Ale, Port High Tide, Ommegana Witte, Port Hop 15, Victory Moonglow Weizenbock, Oskar Blues Old Chub and more. Ciao Italian Restaurant is located on 4360 Main St. in Chula Vista.

BEER DESSERTS AT EXTRAORDINARY DESSERTS: In honor of San Diego Beer Week 2009, San Diego’s most notable dessert destination, Extraordinary Desserts, will feature a truly unique Beer Week experience. Extraordinary Desserts will offer a special Beer Dessert Menu that includes a delicious and creative collection of luxurious desserts prepared using premium craft stouts and porters. This limited-time menu of beer desserts will be offered at the Extraordinary Desserts Little Italy location (1430 Union Street, San Diego, 619-294-7001) only. Items on the Beer Dessert Menu include:

  • Chocolate Truffle Loaf Cake made with Rogue Chocolate Stout finished with Chocolate Ganache Frosting. $6
  • Warm Caramelized Apple Pie with House Made St. Peters Cream Stout Ice Cream. $10.95
  • Coconut Porter Beer Float with Two Heaping Scoops of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Served with a Sprinkling of Oven-Roasted Coconut and Topped Maui Brewing Company’s Rich and Creamy Coconut Porter Beer. $9.95
