Dad's Day Doubleheader Discount

Get a price break by bringing Padres tickets—and your Dad—to Acqua al 2.

Downtown’s Acqua al 2 restaurant is offering a doubleheader discount for Father’s Day. It’s kind of a Padres baseball game sandwich. Bring your dad to lunch this Sunday before the 1 p.m. game, and get 10 percent off your meal. Come to dinner after the game with pops and get a three-course pre-fixe menu for $65 per person.

Don’t think you and Daddy Dearest can just wander in and get the discounted rates. Waiters will ask to see your tickets or ticket stubs.
Chef Martin (pronounced Mar-teen) Gonzalez has an affinity to the Padres. Most players in the starting lineup are regulars, including Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Chase Headly, Nick Hundley, Kevin Kouzmanoff, Brian Giles and Adrian and Edgar Gonzalez.

Is the chef related to the Gonzalez brothers? “No, but they’ve asked me to be related to them,” says the chef. No doubt to be around the house on holidays, cooking up his Italian specialties. Gonzalez cooks pasta, risotto and the like in the team’s kitchen at Petco Park at least once during every home stand.

Acqua al 2 is normally not open for lunch on Sundays. This Father’s Day is a special occasion. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Just after 12:30, Gonzalez says he’ll leave the restaurant with his wife and two daughters, who are 7 and 4. Two blocks later, they’ll be in their primo seats—of course, the Padres take care of Gonzalez—catching the first pitch and celebrating the national day for dads.
