Looking to feel a little extra polished when making the rounds at holiday parties? Then maybe it’s time to treat your tresses to a professional blow dry.

It might sound strange, but salons that exclusively dry and style hair have popped up in throughout San Diego County. The idea is simple: Walk in, pick a style and get their hair washed and dried for a flat fee. In most cases, customers are out of the salon in less than 45 minutes. Each salon has a variety of styles to select, ranging from curly to stick-straight.

San Diegans have a few choices when picking a place to get a blowout.  There’s Drybar in Del Mar, which is part of the ever-expanding empire by hair guru Alli Webb. And this year, Blow Pop Dry Bar in downtown and Naturale in La Jolla also opened their doors to the public -- growing proof that the blow dry only salons are gaining in popularity.

Drybar and Naturale charge $35 for blowouts, and Blow Pop set its price at $30. They all take online reservations, so perfect hair is only a click away. Plus all three are open on New Year’s Eve -- meaning your mane will look luxurious for the ball drop.

So if you’ve got a few dollars to spare this holiday season, it might be worth a visit. You’ll be able to hold your professionally-styled head high for any festivity.

Would you pay to get your hair professionally blow dried? Why or why not?
