Jamielee Darley's secret may be out.

As a gangly tomboy growing up in San Marcos, Jamielee Darley used to run around wearing T-shirts with the word Supermodel printed on the front. The basketball-playing youngster in braces didn't seem a likely candidate for that particular career, but things change.

Now, Darley is one of two finalists in the Victoria's Secret Model Search, reported the North County Times. To win, the 23-year-old needs the most ballots in an online vote that began Monday. If she receives the most ballots, she'll be tabbed as the next Victoria's Secret top model. The results will be announced next week on the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

If Darley wins, she'll walk the runway on the television special and receive a $5,000 Victoria's Secret gift card.

"I'm getting calls from agents. I hope that the ball keeps rolling," said Darley, who moved to Carmel at age 13 and now lives in Los Angeles. Her mom, Bev Ford, lives in Escondido.

"I was in Los Angeles and New York. They want really skinny girls," she said "I've gotten a lot of rejections -- too curvy, too breasty. I was always told that I'd be perfect for Victoria's Secret. The fact that this came through is a dream come true."

Darley's roommate found the original announcement of the modeling contest. Some 2,000 young women turned out for the open casting call in Los Angeles. Other tryouts were held in New York and Chicago.
