Punky Shoester

Shoes with attitude and a lot of sole.

TUK A LOOK: If your tastes tend to lean on the gothic side, TUK in Hillcrest has classic, clunky and colorful boots and shoes for you. Through the end of August, all TUK brand shoes are 50% off (original prices hover around $50) and the sale table in the back has steals ranging from $5 to $50. Plus, on August 30th the store will be lauding the release of the 100th Anniversary Fred Perry polo. And if you're in the know, you know how big a deal that is.

SO SNEAKY: Walking into Pop! Boutique in North Park, you'll be met with prismatic fashion from local and Swedish designers and a fun array of bright jewelry. If you stop for a second and focus, however, you'll notice the admirable selection of Toms Shoes, Sneaky Steve brand sneakers, Billie saddle shoes, GRAM lace-up's, Public Royalty high tops and Zoo York tennies. Prices range from $30 to $90 per pair.

SCORE BOARD: Tucked away amongst Hillcrest residential buildings sits Score, a shoe store thoughtfully compiled from countless adventures through second-hand venues. While the front of the store sparkles with brand new (though vintage-styled) athletic footwear and sandals, the real jewels are the hand-stitched cowboy boots, original slouch ankle boots, retro fashion loafers and dance shoes of years past. There is also an impressive, and affordable, collection of broken-in leather jackets (around $30), and the owner is super friendly.
