Weekend Events: Aug. 3-5

August is finally here, and with that comes the feeling that summer is winding down. But fear not, San Diego events are in full swing.

Here's what's going on this weekend:

Friday, Aug. 3

SummerFest La Jolla
7:30 p.m. at 700 Prospect St.
Summer tunes will be on full blast this Friday when the La Jolla Music Society presents its annual SummerFest. The opening night will serenade you with "Romantic Promenade music at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Tickets start at $50, and the event runs through Aug. 24.

Latin American Festival
10 a.m. in Old Town
Bazaar del Mundo will be hosting this spicy, free weekend event at its shops in Old Town from Friday to Sunday. Folk art collections and artisan jewelry from south of the border will be available for purchase, in addition to tin and clay pieces. Latin American folk band TINKU will provide the entertainment for the festivities.

80's Night at Petco Park
5 p.m. at Padres Stadiumn
Petco Park will begin celebrating 80's night at 5 p.m. Come support the Padres as they play against the New York Mets as they sport 1989 baseball uniforms. Get there early to enjoy live entertainment by the 80z All-Stars. Tickets start at $6.50.

Saturday,  Aug. 4

31 Heroes

8 a.m. at Chula Vista CrossFit 821 Kuhn Dr.
This weekend, members of the increasingly popular CrossFit gyms will gather together to benefit 31 Heroes. The event honors the 31 men killed in action on Aug. 6 last year. By simply training like a pro athlete, you'll be able to benefit the families affected by the fatal helicopter crash.

Brewfest Encinitas
4 p.m. at MiraCosta College San Elijo Campus
Some of San Diego's top breweries will be serving up some suds to benefit a host of charities. Brewfest Encinitas will pour beers from Iron Fist, Green Flash, Pizza Port and more during a sunny Saturday afternoon, where a handful of food trucks will dole out some grub.

Little Italy Presents the Marine Band of San Diego
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Little Italy
Little comes alive this Saturday for a summer concert event. Hundreds of people will swamp W. Date street in Little Italy, between India and Columbia street, to hear the sensational music of the Marine Band San Diego and another jazz band. The event starts at 6 p.m. Make sure to arrive early to get a good seat.

Sunday, Aug. 5

Ladies & Gentlemen's Day at Del Mar Racetrack
2 p.m. at Del Mar Racetrack
Free mini-spa treatments courtesy of Spa Gregorie's will be available to everyone with a racetrack ticket on Sunday. The 21 and older crowd can also enjoy wine tasting in the private cabana areas, and raffles will be held for spa-related prizes.
