Sun God Sets Sail

A fun-filled week at the UCSD campus comes to a close Friday with two huge events set to bring students out for some fun.  The week is in celebration of Sun God, UCSD's annual festival.  Traditionally, the gathering is preceeded by four days of activites for students. This year included a slient rave, a carnival and a water slide.

The Triton Junkyard Derby takes place at 9:00 a.m and features the handiwork of UCSD's engineering students. Earlier this week, students descended on a makeshift junkyard to grab the best scraps possible to create racing machines, much like the TV show Junkyard Wars. The teams were given two nights and one day to build and will race their final products down UCSD’s Peterson Hill.

At noon, the actual Sun God festival begins at RIMAC Field and features three stages, as well as a fair of student organizations. The festival runs until midnight and boasts a star-studded set list, including Drake, Relient K, and Thrice.  Looking to get into this event? Unfortunately, the event is closed to the public and tickets are no longer on sale.
