An 18-year-old from San Diego has been crowned the new Miss California.
Arianna Afsar won her crown Saturday night in Fresno and will compete in January in the Miss America pageant. The UCLA freshman's platform was Adopt-A-Grandfriend.
You may recognize Afsar. She was one of 36 semifinalists on American Idol, competing against Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey
The runners-up are: 1st, 23-year-old Ruth Stainer of Huntington Beach; 2nd, 23-year-old Sharanya Mukhopadhyay of Yorba Linda; 3rd, 21-year-old Laura Berger of Glendale; 4th, 21-year-old Saundra Combs of San Diego.
