Ultimate Wave Tahiti begins its run Thursday at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. The film features nine-time world champion surfer Kelly Slater along with Tahitian surer Raimana Van Bastolaer and follows the two as they attempt to take on the larger than life waves at famed Tahitian surf site, Teahupo’o.
While the concept of the movie may seem simple -- the depth of the film reaches further than the title suggests. Reflections on surfing, an exploration of Polynesian culture and a view of the forces of nature that create the waves are all topics touched upon in the movie.
The movie runs at various times and will be carried at the theater until October. An updated calendar of show times, as well as more information about the film is available at the Reuben H. Fleet website.
