San Diego Preps for Supercross

The area surrounding Qualcomm will be filled with the sound of Supercross this weekend

Crews began turning 500 truckloads (1.5 million tons) of dirt onto the floor at Qualcomm Stadium Wednesday as they worked to build a Supercross track in preparation for this weekend's Monster Energy Supercross race.

This sixth race, far from the 17-race season marks the final stop in California for 2012.

Of the world’s top Supercross riders to battle it out for the prestigious 2012 Supercross Class crown, is returning 2011 Supercross Class champion Ryan Villopoto.
On a mission to defend his title, Villopoto is competing against riders Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, James Stewart and many others.
Last year, 53,342 fans turned out to see the event.
One thing is for sure, rain or shine this event kicks off Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
