A pair of Sri Lankan dogs await their turn to take part in the island's annual all breed championship dog show.
According to the San Diego Animal Support Foundation, size matters! The third annual Big Dogs Rock adoption event is going on Saturday, August 15th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fiesta Island and big dogs (50 pounds of more) are a must.
If you’re a big-dog lover and have been looking to adopt, come check out this collaborative adoption event bringing together more than 18 legitimate, local non-profit rescue agencies and shelters. The agencies will bring together more than 150 large dogs or puppies that will eventually be big dogs.
Since the economy is continuing to negatively affect adoptions, this year’s event will also focus on encouraging big dog lovers to come out and learn how to become a temporary foster home. By becoming a foster family, you will keep dogs out of shelters until permanent homes can be found.
In order to make sure the dogs adapt to their new homes well, all dogs will go home with an eco-friendly doggie bag filled with goodies, including quality health food, shampoo, toys, scarves, coupons, and gift certificates for free services like pet-sitting, dog walking and grooming.
Along with the adoption program, the Recycle 4 Pets program will be collecting old cell phones, PDAs, laptops, ink toner cartridges, Ipods and DVDs. To save the dogs and the planet visit www.SDShelters.com for more information.
