Dude Walks Like a Lady … for Charity

San Diego men put on their best high heels to fight domestic violence on Thursday.

The second annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event in San Diego was meant to raise awareness for women, children and families who are homeless or victims of abuse. The walkers kicked off the event at the convention center.

The lighthearted event underscores a serious issue.

"This isn't just a women's issue, it's a community issue, and we'd very much like to eliminate domestic violence from our world if we possibly can," said Heather Finlay, the CEO of the San Diego County YWCA

The proceeds from the march benefit the YWCA. Last year, organizers raised nearly $50,000.
