Alternative rock band Dashboard Confessional is embarking on a string of college shows this spring, with San Diego on their mind this weekend. Dashboard will headline the University of San Diego’s first-ever Alcala Music Festival 2009.
Be a part of history on Sunday, April 26 at 5 p.m. at the Jenny Craig Pavilion featuring Dashboard Confessional, with special guests Early States, Get Back Loretta, The Dimes, and The New Archaic.
This student-run and organized festival is a big win for students, considering the University's Catholic identity and policies that restrict certain bands from playing on campus.
USD’s student newspaper, The Vista, reported back in March that “because USD is a Catholic university, it has been hard trying to convince them to let certain controversial bands play here, most of which they've denied.”
The New Archaic, set to play at the festival, has a personal tie to the University since one of the band members, Tolan Shaw, is a student and has created a following at USD.
Tickets are $25 and available at the University Center box office.
