City Heights Hosts First-Ever Youth Resource Fair

Teens will be given information about employment opportunities, internships and community resources

City Heights is hosting a youth fair for teenagers in the community on Saturday, Apr. 28 at the Mid City Gymnasium on Landis Street.

The City Heights Youth Resource Fair the first of its kind for the San Diego community.

It's being organized by the Collaboration to Keep City Heights Youth Safe and hosted by the City Heights Teen Center and San Diego Parks and Recreation.

The event – happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. -- is meant to connect City Heights youth to positive community resources such as employment and internship opportunities, while steering them away from violence, drugs and alcohol.

According to event organizers, the gathering will boast 40 booths offering valuable information on those varied community resources.

Councilmembers Todd Gloria and Marti Emerald will also attend the event.

Prizes, raffles and snacks will round-out the youth fair, as well as a musical performance by City Heights Music School and the transcenDANCE youth arts project.

Teens will also be given helpful information about a follow-up resume and mock interview workshop that takes place May 3.
