Big Screen for Little Price

A pair of North County organizations are teaming up to show a series of free movies this fall on a giant outdoor screen.

The Carlsbad Village Association and the Army and Navy Academy are planning to show the movies on a screen provided by Hollywood Outdoor Movies, reported the North County Times. It's billed as the "largest outdoor movie screen in the western United States," organizers report.

The screen, which is 52 feet wide and more than four stories tall, will be set up at the academy's Maffuci Field in the 2600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard.

Among the films being shown are The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire and Night at the Museum II.
