8/2: Horseshoein' around or Surfing with the Kings

Up for a little game of horseshoe?
HORSESHOEIN’ AROUND: Finally, an event that is sure to bring bods back to the beach! Old Mission Bay Athletic Club will host a horseshoe tournament at Mariner’s Point beginning at 11:30 a.m. For those of you who know your game of horseshoes, the tournament will go as follows: blind draw format will begin, then round robin and followed by a single elimination tournament. Want to play? Same day sign-ups will be at Pennant Bar from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The fee for players will be $30 and $20 for non-players and members, which includes lunch. Proceeds from this event will benefit UCSD Cancer Unit.
SOUNDS ON THE SURF: The Surf Kings will perform at Moonlight Beach in part of Encinitas Sunday Concerts by the Sea. It’s a free event that will take place right on the sand at 5 p.m. so bring your sun block, shades and a blanket to snuggle up in while enjoying the sounds. OUT AND ABOUT: This Sunday Funday will provide a performance series for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender community and a delicious brunch provided by Jai by Wolfgang Puck. It will all take place at the La Jolla Playhouse at 12 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee performance. Tickets to Out and About may be purchased at www.lajollaplayhouse.org ranging in price from $59 to $69.
