No - putting on your "good sweats" for Wal-Mart doesn't count as a night out.

Mothers across San Diego County are being encouraged to take a night off and join others moms across the country for the National Moms’ Nite Out this Thursday.

San Diego has two events May 7: one at Buster's Beach House at Seaport Village, which will include food, drinks, swag bags, giveaways and a raffle with proceeds going to the March of Dimes.  For details or to register you can visit the the organizer's Facebook page.

The second event is taking place at Facelogic Spa in Encinitas, where they’ll be holding an Accessories Swap and enjoying pampering and entertainment by Wayne Johnson, guitarist for The Manhattan Transfer and Bette Midler.  For details, contact the organizer, who's known as "SanDiegoBargainMama."

Local organizers say it’s the chance “to promote solidarity, happiness, connection, friendship, mental, emotional and physical wellbeing of San Diego women, bloggers, twitterers, lurkers, moms, and female peoples.”

National Moms' Nite Out is being orchestrated by Maria Bailey, Host of Mom Talk Radio and author of “The Ultimate Mom Book,” as well as other parenting websites.

“Our goal in hosting National Mom's Nite Out is to unite moms all over the country prior to Mother’s Day,” says Bailey, “most moms spend Mother’s Day taking care of the other mothers in their lives so we hope to give moms a well deserved night off right before Mother's Day."

The evening will consist of more than 400 events across the country.
