Each summer for more than 20 years, NBC 7/39 has sponsored a workshop for talented, young high school students aspiring to work in media. Along with other organizations, NBC 7/39 is making their goals a reality.

The students spend a couple of weeks with us and learn the in's and out's of the industry. The students come from all over San Diego County.

After 2 weeks with producers, anchors, editors, photographers, and reporters, the students produce their own newscast. This year's newscast is "Spectrum News," and is tentatively scheduled to air Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 5 a.m.

The California Chicano News Media Association, The Union-Tribune and Point Loma Nazarene University are this year's sponsors for the 2009 Multi-Cultural Journalism Workshop.
