The Padres traded the top pick of the 2004 draft to the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later. In five minor league seasons, Bush has three home runs and two arrests.

El Cajon police said last week that they were investigating assault allegations involving Bush. The incident occurred at Granite Hills High School.

Bush received a club record $3.15 million signing bonus in 2004. Shortly after he signed it, he was arrested after an incident at a nightclub in Arizona.

They have already filled his spot on the 40-man roster with veteran slugger Cliff Floyd, a 16-year veteran who spent last season with the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays. Floyd got a one-year $750,000 deal.
