MIAMI -- The varsity baseball coach at Gulliver Preparatory School in Miami has resigned in the wake of locker room behavior that engulfed him in controversy.

Coach Lazer Collazo reportedly dropped his pants in the locker room after his varsity team lost to Florida Christian on April 7. He reportedly took his penis out of his pants and accused his players of not having the testicular fortitude it takes to play baseball, the Miami Herald reported.

According to a Coral Gables police report, Collazo "pointed to his penis, testicles and asked the team if they had a set of these or were they equipped with a vagina."

Gulliver Prep released a statement Wednesday, following Collazo's resignation saying, "Coach Collazo acted in a highly inappropriate manner in a locker room talk to our varsity baseball team... Coach Collazo has personally apologized to his players and their parents. I know he deeply regrets his conduct."

No charges were filed against the coach.

One school official said Collazo's choice to resign was his own -- he was not forced by the school.

Some Gulliver parents have privately complained, saying the school should have moved faster and more forcefully for a parting of the ways with its coach.

Collazo, who is also a former University of Miami assistant coach, had been at Gulliver Prep for two years.

"In his two years at Gulliver, Collazo consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership as both a coach and administrator," the school's statement said.

Collazo's lawyer was unavailable for comment.
