Time Warner Cable is introducing a new universal channel lineup across its markets in an effort to group similar channels together. While Channels 1 – 99 will not be changing, Time Warner Cable will be introducing new groupings of channels based on genre, i.e. Entertainment, Lifestyle, News and Info, Kids and Teens, Music, Sports, etc. Additionally, there will no longer be a separate High Definition section of channels on the channel lineup – instead of having separate HD channels, Time Warner Cable will broadcast the selected channel in either Standard Definition or High Definition depending on what equipment the customer has.

On the new lineup, NBC stations will be double-mapped – they will be on their current channel in the lower channels (Channel 7 in San Diego) and they will also appear on Channel 1203 in the Local Programming section of the lineup. Viewers who watch in High Definition (and have High Definition equipment) will experience a change – they can go to the lower channel to watch the NBC station, or to the Local Programming section.

As part of the new lineup, COZI TV will also be moved to the Local Programming section of channels (Channel 1245 San Diego), which is where the other multicast channels will be located. COZI TV will not be available in the lower channels.

According to Time Warner Cable, customers DVRs will not need to be re-programmed to reflect the changes so there should not be an issue with recorded programming.
