Police say two men were dressed for success when it came to roadside robbery.

A motorist who stopped to help two men in dress pants jump start a pickup truck was robbed of his wallet, jewelry and telephone  at knifepoint early Thursday, police said.

The robbery near Aliso Road and Avenida Del Yermo was reported at 2:07  a.m., Cathedral City police Sgt. Andy Diaz said.

The victim told police he had been driving east on Ramon Road and was  stopped for a red light at Desert Vista Road, when he noticed a man standing on  the north side of the road with jumper cables, Diaz said.

The motorist offered to help and drove the man a few blocks, Diaz said.  At the pickup, another man came up and thanked him, then the first pulled a  knife and held it to his neck, Diaz said.

The aggressor took the man's wallet, rings and cellular telephone, then  let him go, Diaz said.

One suspect was about 6 feet and 180 pounds, with a bald head and a thin  black mustache; he was wearing a maroon button-down shirt and dark dress  pants, Diaz said.

The other suspect was heavy set and about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with  wavy black  hair; he was wearing a white shirt and gray dress pants with white  pin stripes, Diaz said.

Anyone with more information was asked to call the police at 760-770- 0303.
