Police: Man Chased by Trooper Drives Into Swamp

A police chase ended with a man driving into a swamp Thursday in Saco, Maine, officials said.

State police say a trooper pulled 28-year-old Kevin Switzer over on the Saco Spur, a connection off I-95. When the trooper got out of his car, police say, Switzer took off.

Switzer allegedly led the trooper on a chase down U.S. Route 1, driving behind a Hannaford supermarket and into a swamp.

Trooper Christopher Rogers said he and Switzer were both up to their waists in mud and water when the arrest was made.

Switzer is charged with eluding an officer and aggravated operation without a license.

Officials say Switzer's license was revoked after he accumulated points on it and failed to pay fines.

It was not immediately clear if Switzer had an attorney.
