A naked man stole a fire truck at an apartment complex in South Carolina and drove off, killing a nearby pedestrian on Friday, authorities said.
Beaufort firefighters said they were responding to a medical call at the complex when Kalvin Hunt, 22, took the truck, CBS News reported.
He collided with several cars before finally crashing into trees and pinning himself inside the truck. Hunt injured three officers and one EMT as they pulled him out of the vehicle. The injured police and paramedics were treated at a hospital and released. Hunt was hospitalized at Beaufort Memorial Hospital on Friday.
Justin Miller, 28, of Port Royal was killed by the fire truck, The Associated Press reported. Hunt has not been charged in Miller's death, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said, but an investigation is underway.
"I've never seen a fire truck come out of nowhere like that," Brana Rogerson told the Associated Press. Rogerson said she got out of the way of the truck before it hit six or seven other cars. "The truck didn't have its lights on. I knew it wasn't a fireman behind the wheel."
