Match.com Pair Marries: She's 90, He's 82

Retirees are growing part of site's business

It took quite a while, but 90-year-old Mary Holder found her soul mate on Match.com - 82-year-old Edward Nisbett.

The pair got hitched Saturday and is being touted as the dating web site's latest success in its fastest-growing demographic, the over-50 set. Nisbett, of Pittsburgh, and Holder, who moved from the Steel City to Tallahassee in 2008, first made contact last fall. They emailed one another and eventually set up a meeting in a Tallahassee hotel lobby. Holder brought along her 41-year-old grandson, Russ Lentz, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"We were to meet at this fancy hotel in Tallahassee, and I told him I'll be sitting in the lobby, holding a yellow rose," she said, confessing that she got the idea from a movie," Holder said.

The chaperone figured it was okay.

"I thought he was all right, so I left them alone," Lentz told the paper. "And they've been inseparable ever since."

Both had previously lost spouses and were lonesome. Holder told the newspaper she signed up with Match.com "on a whim."

"I knew some prince on a white horse wasn't going to ride up and sweep me off my feet, so I had to do it myself," Holder said.

Holder was once a newspaper columnist for the Irwin Times and Standard Observer, and Nisbett is a retired metallurgist. They share several passions, according to Lentz.

They really are compatible, both being poetry fans and big drinkers of hot tea (as well as an occasional dram of scotch) ... You can see that they really care about each other."

They wed at Grace Lutheran Church, near Holder's home in Florida.

"He wore a tuxedo to the wedding, and a beautiful red vest," Holder gushed to the newspaper. "He just looked like Prince Charming."
