There's little doubt where Waldo was.

Some 1,052 people in red and white shirts and caps turned out on the Rutgers University campus Thursday in a bid to stage the largest gathering of people dressed as Where's Waldo.

The Guinness World Records says the previous Waldo record was 577 people.

The globe-trotting children's character is celebrating his 21st birthday this year.

Event organizer Matt Ferguson tells the university newspaper, The Daily Targum, planning started in September.

Participants also brought 3,186 books to donate to the New Brunswick school system.
