“Thunder from Down Under” Dancers Tackle Gunman

Authorities say a gunman was tackled by performers from a male revue show as he attempted to make off with items taken from their dressing room at a Las Vegas Strip hotel.

Lt. David Gordon tells the Las Vegas Sun the gunman fired a shot when confronted by Thunder From Down Under performers who noticed him with their belongings heading toward the courtyard at the Excalibur Hotel.

Las Vegas police and a hotel spokesman say one cast member was treated for minor injuries after being struck in the face by gunshot debris during the incident a little after 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The alleged thief was jailed in Las Vegas. He wasn't immediately identified.

MGM Resorts International spokesman Gordon Absher says hotel operations and the show schedule weren't affected.
