Mac-Attack Brings Dog Home

A Waterbury, Conn., family's missing Australian Shepherd, Flint, is home after a ten-week hiatus, lured back by the delicious blend of two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, and onions, all piled high on a sesame seed bun.

Back in February, Flint apparently got spooked and bolted from the Diaz family's backyard, remaining at large for more than two months, scavenging for food, dodging cars and living in the woods, the Republican-American Newspaper reported.

So the Diaz clan set out Havahart traps baited with irresistible Big Macs in various locations around town. But Flint outsmarted their efforts to bring him home, repeatedly cleaning out the trap while managing to avoid capture.

On Sunday, his family finally received the call they had hoped for; Flint had been found, the victim of his appetite and trap he couldn't outwit.

"We had to actually hang cheeseburgers and Chicken Selects from the ropes so when he went to pull the ropes, the door (on the trap) would slam," explained Flint's relieved owner, Lori Diaz.

Flint, 4, has been a fan of the cuisine beneath the golden arches for years.

"When the kids get chicken nuggets, he does get scraps," said Diaz.
