National Cowboy Poetry Tickets on Sale

ELKO ELOQUENCE: Events that focus on the art of the cowboy poem -- and the cowboy poet -- are certainly plentiful. Some of the best of the best are comprised solely of a few bards who get together for a down-home meal and some stirring words shared. But then, at the other end of the scale, you have the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering. This is the cream of the crop and big in every way. It's about as cream-of-the-crop-y as poetry gatherings come, and it has other stuff to boot (yep, we said "to boot" on purpose there). That other stuff? Panels on regional food and talks on range culture and such. Tickets for the 2012 National Cowboy Poetry Gathering go on sale on Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Western Folklife Center Members. What, you're not a member? Why not?

GATHERING DATES: The gathering itself clip-clops from Jan. 30 through Feb. 4, 2012. Yep, that's the better part of the week. Yep, you're going to hear a lot of stanzas about rustling and vistas. Yep, it's good, is what it is. Baxter Black will be there, of course, as well as Wally McRae and Waddie Mitchell.
