When it comes to getting people together for a cause, nothing is more powerful than social media.

Mashable pulled together its list of top tools to raise money and get the word out. Among the sites chosen, is San Diego-based StayClassy.

“StayClassy is focused not just on helping non-profits collect donations online, but also manage events and campaigns, track their fundraising results and plug-in,” Mashable’s Christina Warren writes.

Not to be outdone, nine other sites offer ways for non-profits to organize walk-a-thons, distribute petitions or even offer rewards to those donating to your cause at certain levels.

NBCSanDiego is partnering with StayClassy to promote its annual Classy Awards scheduled for Nov. 7 in San Diego.

You can nominate a volunteer or charity to be recognized. The deadline is Sept. 17.

More than $100,000 will be donated to support the charitable efforts of the ten national CLASSY Awards winners.
CLASSY Awards partners include: NBC Bay Area, NBC Chicago, NBC Los Angeles, NBC New York, NBC San Diego, NBC Washington, Guidestar.org, Legalzoom, Yelp, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network - San Diego & New York chapters, Volunteer SD, and L.A. Works.
