A new technology that promises to change the way you enjoy movies is poised to debut Christmas Day in about a dozen U.S. movie theaters, including one right here in San Diego.

Fans of "Sherlock Holmes" will be able to experience the seats designed by D-Box Technologies at the Mission Valley UltraStar Cinema.

The chairs will offer three types of movement during the feature. Subtle pitch, roll and heave will move the moviegoer gently forwards and backwards, from side to side and up & down.

One of just 13 theaters in North America, the Mission Valley location is the third UltraStar Cinemas to feature the innovative technology debuted in Hollywood in April.

Be sure to read the fine print. Not recommended for pregnant women, people with heart, back, neck conditions or people drinking hot liquids. Also, not recommended for kids under 10 without parental supervision.
