Winning Streak Over

All good things must come to an end and the Padres winning streak did just that after a 3-2 loss to the Rockies. The Friars had their chances, but a stout Colorado defense was the difference.

Trailing by a run after a Drew Stubbs homer in the top of the eighth off of reliever Dale Thayer (4-4), the Rockies flashed some leather to secure the win. Brandon Barnes robbed Rene Rivera of a potential homer with a catch in left to start the eighth. Later, D.J. LeMahieu made a nice play at second base on a ball hit by Alexi Amarista to end the inning.

Padres starter Robbie Erlin lasted just four innings, but got a no decision. With the loss the Padres (75-82) are assured of another losing season. They wrap-up their home schedule of 2014 Wednesday night.
