The Aztecs lost to Cal 35-7 to fall to 1-1 on the year. San Diego State started off the game looking really good, taking a 7-0 lead in to the 2nd quarter. But the proverbial wheels fell off rapidly, aided by an alarming 12 SDSU penalties.
A lot of people don't like the way Aztecs head coach Rocky Long does things. Sometimes his in-game decision making is unorthodox, if not occasionally outright strange. But one thing I will always admire about Coach Long is the way he protects his student-athletes.
Rocky always has his players' best interest at heart. The way his team played he could have easily hung a lot of his guys out to dry. But instead he pointed the finger of blame somewhere else.
Watch what he had to say about his team's performance and you'll see why I would have absolutely no problem sending my boys off to play for this man because I know they would be in good hands.
