FSU Dismisses De'Andre Johnson After Video Shows Him Punching Woman

Florida State has dismissed freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson from the team on the same day that prosecutors released video allegedly showing him punching a woman at a bar.

In a statement Monday, coach Jimbo Fisher announced Johnson's immediate dismissal. The quarterback was initially suspended on June 25 following initial reports of the incident that occurred off campus. He's been charged with misdemeanor battery.

The video released by the State Attorney's Office on Monday was taken from a security camera at a bar near campus. It appears that the woman and Johnson were both trying to get a position at the bar, and Johnson jostled her.

The video shows a woman raising a fist and shouting at Johnson before Johnson grabs her fist and holds it down. The woman then raises her other hand and swings. It's not clear whether she made contact, but Johnson responds by punching her hard in the face while still grabbing her other hand. She staggers, and her nose begins bleeding.
