Woman Who Claims Affair With Tiger Woods Has Criminal Past

Jaimee Grubbs from Escondido was arrested in 2004, documents reveal.

An Escondido woman who claims she had an affair with Tiger Woods has a criminal record, according to court documents obtained by NBC San Diego.

Jaimee Grubbs was charged with misdemeanor burglary and grand theft in July 2004 after she was accused of shoplifting from the Nordstrom's at Horton Plaza, the records revealed. She was 18 years old.

She failed to appear in court at least once on the case, and a judge issued an arrest warrant against her.

A month after her arrest, Grubbs pleaded guilty to a single count of grand theft. She was sentenced to a day in jail, a $563 fine and ordered to complete a Shoplifter's Education course. The judge also ordered her to stay away from the Nordstrom's.

In October 2004, a judge issued an arrest warrant because Grubbs, who was then 19, failed to complete the shoplifting course. She submitted proof of completion two months later, paid the fines, and the case was closed.

The 24-year-old cocktail waitress told Usmagazine.com Wednesday that she and Woods had a 31-month-long tryst and that she met the athlete at a nightclub in Las Vegas two months before his wife gave birth to their first child.

Grubbs claims to have hundreds of text message exchanges from Woods. The magazine said it obtained a message left by Woods on Grubbs' voice mail urging her to remove her name from her mailbox greeting.

"Hey, it's Tiger," says the voice on the recording, released by US. "I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that. Just have it as a number of the voicemail. You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye."

There has been no confirmation of the US story or whether the voice on the recording is actually Woods.

Manhattan club promoter Rachel Uchitel, 34, was also linked to Woods by the National Enquirer earlier this week but vehemently denied having an affair with the golfing champ.

Tiger Woods apologized to his family for letting them down and said today that he regretted any "transgressions with all of my heart."

Grubbs went to Escondido High School, where a family friend said she was a star athlete.

A man, who says he's known Grubbs for 5 years and is a friend of her moms, says she's not the kind of person to destroy a marriage.

“Just a real good person. Sweet person, not someone that would… wreck a home,” Denis Costello said. “All girls want attention… But she would never do it at the expense of a marriage or a person's reputation. That's not Jaime Grubbs.

Costello says he hasn't spoken to Grubbs in several months, and that she never spoke about Woods in the past.
