San Diego State Survives Rain and Upset Bid by Air Force to win 21-17

San Diego State football won its 5th straight game, improving to 5-1 with a 21-17 win over Air Force.

San Diego State football won its 5th straight game beating Air Force 21 to 17 Friday night at SDCCU Stadium.

This was not your average Aztecs game.

First, it was on Friday, rather than the traditional Saturday college start time.

Then, traditionally sunny and mild San Diego was hit with wacky, wild weather.

It started raining in the 2nd quarter, then came lighting.  In the 3rd quarter, officials pulled both teams off the field, concerned for player safety with lightning in the area.  The lightning delay lasted over an hour.

When the game resumed, the Aztecs were put on upset alert.  Early in the 4th quarter, Air Force running back Ronald Cleveland went in from 4 yards out for the touchdown, a 2 point conversion put the Falcons ahead  17-14.

San Diego answered with an impressive 94 yard drive, capped by a 29 yard touchdown pass from Ryan Agnew to Parker Houston, giving the Aztecs a 21-17 lead.

San Diego State returns to action Saturday, October 20th against San Jose State at SDCCU Stadium.
