The theme of the Chargers off-season has been, in a word, "Uncertainty."
Uncertainty about the team's future in San Diego. Uncertainty about the team's ability to work with local government to get a stadium deal done. Uncertainty about the ability of the head coach to win big games. And, of course, uncertainty about the quarterback.
The future of Philip Rivers is up in the air. For a few months the speculation about whether or not he was going to stay on as the Chargers quarterback ... or if he even wanted to stay put ... took on a life of its own.
The Chargers were rumored to have put Rivers on the trade block (something GM Tom Telesco repeatedly denied), and that Philip would not sign a contract extension after his deal ended at the end of the year.
Throughout it all, Rivers stayed quiet. On Tuesday, the first day of the Bolts' organized team activities, Philip talked about his off-season and cleared up a few things about his future in San Diego.
"I'm willing to listen to anything," said Rivers when asked if he would be open to the franchise opening contract talks before training camp starts in July. Philip then explained why he's been silent for the last couple of months, and reassured Chargers fans that he has not closed to door on staying in San Diego beyond the 2015 season.
