Rain Impacting Activities at Petco Park

Multiple planned events on Sunday have been canceled

Rain in May in San Diego is not usually a big concern. We only average 0.19 inches in the month. So for the Padres planning a bunch of activities early in the month was a relatively safe decision to make.

But the best-laid plans of pro baseball franchises sometimes go awry.

Due to San Diego’s wet weekend the Padres announced the cancellation of pregame activities at Park at the Park on Sunday. That means Kidsfest, Domingos Padres presented by T-Mobile and Compadres Kids Sunday Signings have all been cancelled, as has the post-game baserunning for the kids.

One planned event, the pregame Little League Day parade, is expected to go on as planned before the 1:40 p.m. series finale against the Dodgers.

Since it is expected to be a wet one on Sunday small umbrellas that fit inside a purse or small tote will be permitted inside Petco Park. No larger umbrellas, including golf umbrellas, are permitted.

Since there have only been two rainouts in Petco Park’s history you might not know the ticket policy in case the game is washed away. Game tickets are not refundable or exchangeable in advance based upon anticipated weather conditions. Should the game be postponed and rescheduled due to weather, tickets for a game would be valid for the same seats when the game is rescheduled.

Additional information about the rain ticket policy can be found at www.padres.com.
