On Wednesday the Padres pulled the trigger on a trade that, pending physicals, would nab them 23-year old outfielder Wil Myers from the Rays.
In the three-team deal the Padres acquire Myers, the 2013 AL Rookie of the Year, catcher Ryan Hanigan and a pair of prospects.
In return Tampa Bay gets catcher Rene Rivera, pitcher Burch Smith and minor-leaguer Jake Bauers.
The third team in the deal, Washington, will receive pitcher Joe Ross (Tyson's brother) and the Padres top pick in the 2014 draft, shortstop Trea Turner.
