Padres Lose Late to Phils

Padres starter Robbie Erlin pitched into the seventh inning and left with a 5-2 lead, thanks to a Chris Denorfia two run homer in the fifth. Philadelphia eventually tied the game with a Delmon Young two-run homer in the eighth off of reliever Luke Gregerson.

The Padres used nine pitchers and gave up the two deciding runs in the top of the 13th without allowing a hit. Tommy Lane hit lead-off man Chase Utley. Michael Young followed with a line out to right field. Ryan Howard then flew out to left. After a Domonic Brown walk Ben Revere hit a ground ball to second. Logan Forsythe couldn't field the ball cleanly and his throw home was wild allowing Utley and Brown to score.

The Padres 7-5 loss drop them a game below .500, but still in a tie with Colorado for second place in the NL West, three games behind the Diamondbacks.
