As they have for the last few years Major League Baseball will outfit all 30 teams with special holiday uniforms for the 2018 season. On Monday we got a look at what the Padres will be wearing.
The basic color schemes are the same for every big league club. Lots of stars and stripes for Independence Day, pink for Mother's Day, and blue for Father's Day, and theme holds from head to toe. Here's a look at San Diego's fashion forward holiday attire:
Pink will once again dominate on Mother's Day, which this year is on Sunday, May 13, when the Padres host the St. Louis Cardinals at Petco Park.
The Padres are at home against the Marlins on Memorial Day, which is Monday, May 28.
The hats and jerseys will both have a military feel to them.
On Father's Day (Sunday, June 17) the Padres will be in Atlanta to play the Braves. The hats will have a lighter blue tint.
The July 4 uniforms will obviously have a red, white, and blue theme with lots of Stars & Stripes when the Padres play the A's in Oakland.
Each of the uniforms will have special socks but these are hands-down the coolest.
The hats will look a lot like they have in the past, with one interesting addition. Something is written underneath the bill.
It's a nice touch but not exactly historically accurate. Independence Day is a celebration of the Declaration of Independence. "We the people ..." are of course the opening words of the Constitution but I do appreciate the effort.
