Padres Get One Hit, Still Win

The Padres pushed three runs across with only one hit against the Pirates on Wednesday afternoon at Petco Park. The Friars scored on a sacrifice fly, an error and a bases-loaded walk. Their lone hit in the game was a bunt single by Everth Cabrera in the first inning.

Ian Kennedy (5-6) pitched well to get his third consecutive win. He went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits with seven strikeouts.

Pirates starter Francisco Liriano (1-6) has only himself to blame for the loss. He had six walks and in the fourth inning gave up a bases loaded walk to Chris Denorfia, scoring Tommy Medica to make it 3-1 Padres.

Huston Street pitched the ninth inning to get the save. It was his 18th in as many opportunities this season.

The Padres are off on Thursday then host the Nationals in a three game series at Petco beginning Friday.
