Padres Blank Brewers

Starting Pitcher Edinson Volquez stimies Milwaukee as the Padres beat the Brewers 2-0.

Volquez pitched well enough to get his first win as a Padre, but left the game with the score tied. He struck out four before handing the ball over to reliever Andrew Cashner. The right hander's fastball reached triple digits as he got through the eighth inning unscathed. Cashner was credited with the win the win thanks to the bat of Kotsay.

In the bottom of the inning with Will Venable on first, Kotsay hit a laser into the right field bleachers of PETCO Park. His two-run, pinch hit homer was the difference.

Huston Street pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save and a 2-0 Padres win.

Tomorrow Jeff Suppan will take the mound for the Padres. He''s getting called up to start in place of Cory Luebke who is experiencing soreness in his left elbow. Luebke won't go on the disabled list, but it is unclear when when he'll return to the starting rotation.

With a victory on Wednesday the Padres are guaranteed their first series win of the season.
