Panda's Mom Safe in San Bruno

A giant sigh of relief today for the San Francisco Giants organization. Pablo Sandoval's mother lived in a house that was in the path of Thursday's massive blaze in San Bruno, but Ms. Sandoval was evacuated in time and is in good health.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that Pablo Sandoval was informed of the devastating fire immediately after the Giants' 7-3 win over the Padres. Knowing that she was staying in the affected area, the Giants held Sandoval from reporters until he was able to speak with her via cell phone and confirm that she was alright.

Sandoval rents the house in which his mother lives in San Bruno. After speaking with her, Sandoval said was not concerned with any of the material damage.

"Only my family," Sandoval told the Mercury News. "My family is the most important thing to me."

Ms. Kung Fu Panda will reportedly stay with her other son Michael Sandoval until the area is safe and cleared. Michael Sandoval plays for the San Jose Giants.
